A couple more soccer notes…..

A couple more soccer notes for you:

-Former boys’ star Gibson Bardsley, from Fall City, has now turned pro following his stellar senior season last fall up at Western Washington. Bardsley has hooked up with the United Soccer League’s Charlotte Eagles, from North Carolina, and is on their roster for the opening night game this upcoming weekend, April 9 against the Charleston Battery. Bardsley had apparently attempted to try out with a Major League Soccer club, but that didn’t go anywhere. This opportunity, though, for Bardsley, will allow him to keep in playing shape, and if he does well, there is a good chance an MLS side may sign him, as the USL is one division below MLS in the pecking order in U.S. pro soccer. The USL is where the Sounders, Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps all were prior to those teams joining MLS.

-As you may notice looking at the blog, Wildcat coach Darren Brown was interviewed by the Seattle Times the other day, and that interview has generated a lot of buzz for the program, according to Brown. He tells us that he got a lot of feedback from coaches around the state about what he said in the nearly 10-minute conversation with Times writer Mason Kelley. The interview is a good one, so click on the video. As noted in our editor’s note in the story which went with the video, note that parts of the interview may be partially inaudible, as it took place smack dab in the middle of a “passing” period last Thursday at the high school; “passing” periods, for those who may be unfamiliar, are just as they are, these are the times when students go from class to class, and you hear the bell, background noise from outside the classroom where the interview took place, and the noise from the intercom announcements as well.
