Wildcat boys soccer continues on tear, 4-5-11

Mount Si’s boys soccer team looked to continue its hot streak last night, and behind another stellar performance from their top young forward, they will enjoy the rest of their spring break on a strong note.

Sophomore Kody Clearman scored twice for the Wildcats, and senior goalkeeper Dillon Oord recorded his third straight shutout, lifting Mount Si to a 3-0 win which put them just one point back of Mercer Island for second place in the league standings. The Wildcats and Islanders meet on the island next Tuesday night.

All three Mount Si goals were scored in the second half; the first came in the 48th minute, with Clearman taking a feed from teammate Dane Aldrich and bringing it home; then in the 59th minute, Clearman struck again, this time receiving a pass from Alex Censullo and ripping it into the net. With the score 2-0 late in regulation, Aldrich, whose stellar week put him in a tie for the league scoring lead, popped in his fifth on the season to cap it off. Star junior Davis Karaica added an assist on that tally.

The win put Mount Si’s record at 4-2 league, 4-3-1 overall, and set up a key league showdown next week with the Islanders, as previously noted. That match starts at 7:30 p.m. next Tuesday on the island, then the Wildcats return home next Friday for a game with Liberty.
