Wildcats baseball continues to roll, 4-13-11
Mount Si’s baseball team continued on its torrid pace today, overcoming an early challenge by Sammamish to easily take care of business against the Totems.
Tim Proudfoot went 2-4 with a homer to lead the Wildcats to a 12-3 win. Trevor Taylor pitched five solid innings to get the victory; he gave up five hits and struck out five to improve his record to 3-0 on the season.
Mount Si scored runs in all but one inning; they started it off right away in the first with three runs. A triple by Max Brown scored Proudfoot and Trevor Lane, then Brown scored on a Nate Sinner double. Sammamish responded with a pair of runs in the second, but the Wildcats didn’t flinch. Proudfoot’s homer came in the third, a solo shot, and from there it was all Mount Si. After Proudfoot’s homer, Sinner singled to score Brown and that made it 5-2. Sinner went 2-3 on the day with the two runs.
In the fourth, Mount Si scored another run, on a Robb Lane double; Dustin Breshears was the scoring ‘Cat to make it 6-2. Trevor Lane scored a run in the fifth on an error by Sammamish’s catcher; the Totems committed a total of six errors on the day.
Mount Si scored three more times in the sixth; the Lane’s did the work on the first run, with Robb scoring on a sac fly by his brother Trevor; Brown then singled to score Proudfoot, then Justin Henak, pinch-hitting for Reece Karalus, singled to score Brown and that made it 10-2. A hit by pitch with the bases loaded enabled the Totems to score a run in the bottom of the sixth, then Robb Lane and Proudfoot both scored in the seventh to close things out. Brown finished 4-4 with three runs and three RBI’s.
Mount Si returns home Friday against Lake Washington, first pitch is at 4:30.
