Wildcats baseball loses first Kingco game of spring, 5-3-11
Mount Si’s baseball team has its first losing streak of the spring.
After being one-hit in a loss on Saturday at Safeco Field to Nathan Hale, the Wildcats went to Liberty last night, and while the offense looked better, it was the Patriots who had the last laugh, scoring a run in the bottom of the sixth to break a 2-2 tie and hand Mount Si its second straight loss, 3-2.
Max Brown went 1-3 with two RBI’s; his single in the top of the sixth scored Tim Proudfoot and Trevor Lane to tie the game at 2-2 after the Patriots scored twice in the third to open the scoring. Brown is among the top hitters in the league right now, hitting .534.
Lane pitched six solid innings, giving up three runs on four hits while striking out eight. His ERA is under two currently.
The loss to Liberty was Mount Si’s first league loss of the season; they had won 11 straight to open the Kingco schedule, part of a 15-game overall win streak which was snapped with the loss Saturday at Safeco.
Mount Si hosts Interlake today for their final home game of the season. Game time is 4:30 p.m. The Saints have had a respectable season, but the Wildcats beat them earlier this season 13-1.
