Mount Si’s boys soccer season came to a heartbreaking end last night, as they fell to Lake Washington in the first round of the Kingco Tournament.

The Kangs scored a goal in second-half stoppage time to break a 1-1 tie and give them a 2-1 win which sent them to a game tomorrow against Mercer Island, who beat Bellevue in the other game last night. Kody Clearman scored for for the Wildcats in the first half to tie things up shortly after LW opened the scoring in the contest.

“It was a very tough loss tonight and hard to swallow,” said Mount Si coach Darren Brown in comments on the Mount Si soccer website. The coach also took time to thank everyone for their support of the program. “If I had a dollar for every time a parent from another team or our opposition comes to our house and comments on how first class we are from the boosters to the players wearing the uniform…I would be a very rich man,” he said.

Mount Si finished 7-8-2 on the season, and returns some young talent next spring, including juniorstalwart Dane Aldrich, who will be a senior, and sophomore Clearman, who will also be a junior. Struggles, though, with both the JV and C programs this spring could mean that it may be more difficult to establish the depth off the bench needed for a strong run. The offseason should be an interesting one.
