Tuesday news and notes….
Some items of interest….
-From the Seattle Times, they announced their Star Times selections. Mount Si senior baseball CF Max Brown was named to the Star Times’ baseball squad, the only spring athlete from Mount Si to get this distinction. Brown is one of three Wildcat baseball players who have signed with Bellevue College to play baseball next spring for that program.
-Another weekend of local ASA club girls’ softball has wrapped up, and for one team with four Wildcat softball players, it was a big one. NW Ladysharks Wetherbee, with four of the Mount Si freshmen including the Carroll sisters Nikki and Jenny, went 5-1 on the weekend with two wins on Saturday and three more on Sunday. The offense was clicking, too, especially on Saturday, as they won that pair of contests by a combined score of 24-5. Nice work, girls, and hopefully, we’ll see a little more of that starting on Friday down at state. The draw looks to be a real tough one.
-State golf starts this morning. 2As (Cedarcrest) in Tacoma, 3As (Mount Si) in Spokane. The main story will be over in Spokane, where Wildcat senior Jack Kelly is among the favorites to win the state title on the boys’ side. We’ll keep an eye on this for you and let you know if we hear anything.
-Later this week, we’ll preview the big final weekend for girls’ club volleyball for you, with the big Memorial Day tournaments in both Seattle and Kirkland.
More later.
