>Weekend wrapup

>No games on this Sunday, so we can wrapup the weekend right now, and the headliner is out of snowy Slippery Rock, PA, where the Seattle Pacific women’s cross county squad competed in the NCAA D-II national championships yesterday. Despite the difficult conditions, SPU finished fourth as a team, and Fall City’s Jane Larson finished 12th overall among all runners with a time of 22:02. Teammate Jessica Pixler, Eastlake HS grad, won the individual title. Hope our friends at our sister paper the Sammamish Reporter are made aware of this. Nice job you two.

In other action, North Bend’s Rachel Mitchell (the former Rachel Travis) scored eight points, but it was not enough last night as her Northwest U. women’s team fell 61-51 at PLU in Tacoma. On the football field, Eastern Washington’s two Valley participants, North Bend’s Alex Smart and Dexter Moetului, both saw action in the Eagles’ season finale, a win at Weber State 33-26 in Ogden, UT. Moetului recorded a tackle in the third quarter which prevented Weber’s runner from gaining yardage on the play. Smart did not have any stats.

Now the scores, both “Apple Cup” results from Pullman, but the locals were not part of the fun. Rats.

Slow week this week, as basketball takes over. At some point this week, look for a wrapup of BCC fall sports and a check on if anyone is playing ball at the CC level this winter.
