Snoqualmie Valley Sports Journal Archive Edition

Bringing you the best coverage of Snoqualmie Valley sports

>The Saturday scoreboard

>There’s snow out there this morning in the Valley, and it’s spring already. Wow. Anyway, it was a BUSY Saturday for local college athletes, as teams featuring over a dozen locals were in action, some with our Valleyites, others not.

There were a number of headliners. First, in women’s rowing, where North Bend’s Katie Woolsey (WWU) rowed with the varsity eight for the Vikings in the Daffodil Regatta yesterday, and that boat won the race there in a time of 7:29.10, beating U of Puget Sound’s boat by over a second. Nice start for a freshman who initially was expected to turn out for track in Bellingham this season.

Also, Fall City’s Karin and Amy Brevick were likely rowing for WSU yesterday as their women faced North Bend’s Chelsie Eddings and Gonzaga. WSU swept all five races in the meet, with Eddings not competing for the Zags and as for the Brevicks, no report on whether they rowed, but since both are seniors, it’s likely they did.

To track, where both Valleyites on Northwest University’s women’s team took top-10 finishes in events yesterday. Snoqualmie’s Chelsea Miller finished second in both the 100 and 200m, while North Bend’s Alisha Larion scored a fourth in the shot put to go along with an eighth in the discus.

Today features another battle of locals, as PLU baseball, with both Brandon Sales from Snoqualmie and Jake Handy from Fall City, taking on George Fox, and North Bend’s Derek Aldrich, in a doubleheader this afternoon in Newberg, OR. Yesterday’s games were rained out. Sales is the only one expected to see time, as both Handy and Aldrich have been used sparingly this season by their respective teams.
