Baseball diamond cuts…..

Good Sunday morning. Another couple of rounds of diamond cuts for you, and a little basketball as well later on as well. We lead with baseball.

It was a solid night on the diamond last night for Mount Si High School alum Aidan Dougherty on the college summer baseball circuit. Unfortunately, his efforts proved not to be enough as his team fell north of the border.

Dougherty went 2-5 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI for his Wenatchee AppleSox, but they fell to the Victoria HarbourCats 9-6 in a wild one last night in Victoria, B.C., Canada. He has started the season strong, hitting .355 for Wenatchee, part of the West Coast League.

Fellow Mount Si alum Harrison Clark also saw action in the contest for Wenatchee. Dougherty is from Snoqualmie while Clark is from North Bend. Clark had no official at-bats.

The two teams wrap up their series this afternoon in Victoria.

Time for our youth baseball on this Sunday. Scores and highlights from GameChanger and their apps, available on phones and tablets in their app stores.

Washington Dirtbags 18U 6, Baden Elite 2: The Duvall-based Dirtbags made Cedarcrest High School their home for the day yesterday and didn’t provide the best in home cooking to the visiting teams on the ledger. Red Wolves loomed large as the Dirtbags handled affairs against the Seattle-based team. Pitcher Jackson Rees went the distance allowing two runs on six hits walking two and striking three, while teammate and fellow CHS’er Quinn Larson had two hits scoring a run and driving in a second. Other Red Wolves delivered too, with Cooper Ayers doubling and scoring a run, Tyler Questad doubling and driving in two, and Luke Thompson adding a hit, run scored and RBI to the efforts for the Dirtbags.

Washington A’s 18U Showcase 7, WBA 3: At the Cam Christian tournament in Auburn, the A’s unloaded for five runs in the seventh to take care of their Seattle-based opponents. Mount Si’s Owen Krasowski went six strong innings allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits walking two and striking out five to get the win. Fellow Wildcat Taylor Davis doubled to headline a two-hit effort, scoring a run and driving in two, and Mount Si’s Ryan Ruffin was 1-3 with a run scored and RBI.

New Level 7, Washington A’s 18U Premier 2: From Auburn, we head down to Fife where Davis made his way to following the Showcase win to suit up for the A’s Premier level team; he went 0-1 with a walk as the Sammamish-based squad dropped one to the Pierce County team. Regular – and fellow Wildcat – Colin Fraser was 0-1 with a run scored.

Boys of Summer 15U 9, Olympia Baseball 5: Mount Si’s Blake Helman powered Bellevue-based Boys to a road win down in Olympia over the host OBBC team. Helman went 2-3 with a run scored. Teammate and fellow Wildcat Kainoa Keith pitched three innings allowing three runs on four hits, walking four and taking no decision. He was 0-1 offensively.

Narrows Baseball 7, Lakeside Recovery 16U Elite 1: Issaquah-based Lakeside dropped a clash to the Tacoma-area team at Island Crest Park on Mercer Island. Mount Si’s Scott Corder was 1-2 with a walk and run scored for Lakeside while teammate and fellow Wildcat Cole Taylor was 0-3.

North Seattle Rainiers 4, Kirkland Merchants 16U 3 (game one, doubleheader): The Rainiers took two from the Kirkland team at Lee Johnson Field in downtown Kirkland. Mount Si’s J.D. Tenhulzen pitched 1 1/3 innings in this one for the Merchants allowing three walks but striking out one with no decision. He was 0-1 with a walk offensively and didn’t play the second game, won by the Rainiers 10-0 for that sweep.

VeloTech 16U 4, Elevate Northwest Bugge 16U 3: A mini-Valley Cup looked to be on the ledger up at Edmonds Community College yesterday with Mount Si’s Jimmy Pratapas leading Velo against Cedarcrest’s Reed Gilmore and his Woodinville-based Elevate crew, but Gilmore did not play in the contest. Pratapas did, however and did well on the mound, allowing three runs on six hits in 4 2/3 innings of work, walking one, striking out two and helping his own cause at the plate going 3-4 with two runs scored for the Sammamish-based Velo crew.

Washington Dirtbags 18U 3, Narrows Baseball 2: Larson had two hits including a double as the Dirtbags closed out the day on home turf at Cedarcrest with another win, this over the Tacoma-area team. Rees was 1-1 with two walks and two runs scored while the remainder of the Red Wolve crew in this one for the Dirtbags – Questad, Thompson, Ayers and Colt Norris – all went hitless in this one, combining to go 0-10.

Sweets Underclass 14, Lakeside Recovery 16U Elite 5: The Sammamish-based team rolled to a win over the Issaquah team on Mercer Island. Taylor was 1-2 with two runs scored while Corder was 0-2 with a run, both for Lakeside.

VeloTech 16U 8, RSP 7: Velo finished out the day in Edmonds with a win over the Tri-Cities team. Pratapas doubled, scored a run and drove in two pacing the victors.
