Tuesday diamond cuts…..

Good Tuesday morning. We have diamond cuts for you this morning and are leading it off with some youth baseball.

Duvall’s Washington Dirtbags 18U traveled over to Woodinville High School last night for two with Woodinville-based Elevate Northwest Edwards. The night didn’t go as planned, as Elevate took a sweep, but players from Cedarcrest High School chipped in for the Dirtbags in both games.

The first game went to Elevate 5-4 on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch in the bottom of the final inning of the seven-inning contest. Red Wolve Quinn Larson led the way for the Dirtbags, going 3-4 with three stolen bases, two runs scored and two RBI’s. CHS’s Cooper Ayers and Jackson Rees also delivered, each with two hits; Ayers drove in a run and also walked once while Rees stole a base and scored a run. Fellow Red Wolve Jake Polacek also had a hit while a sixth Cedarcrest player, Tyler Questad, went hitless in his three tries at the plate.

The nightcap was nip and tuck with Elevate rallying to force extra innings, then scoring five runs in that eighth inning to take that game 8-3 for the sweep. Thompson started on the mound for the Dirtbags allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits in two innings walking one and striking out two. He had two hits in this one at the plate scoring a run and driving in a second. Rees then came in and pitched the next 5 1/3 frames, allowing three runs on five hits, walking two and striking out five taking the loss in relief, with fellow CHS’er Colt Norris finishing out the final two-thirds of the eighth inning, allowing three runs, two earned, on two hits walking one and striking out two.

Larson was 1-4 with an RBI while Ayers also had two hits and a run scored. Polacek was 0-2 and Questad was 0-1.

The team continues play tonight with a game against Baden Elite at home. First pitch is at 5:45 pm at Cedarcrest High School in Duvall, 29000 NE 150th Street.
