Diamond cuts: Full slate for Mount Si baseball…..

Good Saturday morning. We lead things off with some baseball. Mount Si High School’s baseball team got the bats going last night, pocketing a win at home over Inglemoor.

Mount Si High School hitter Jimmy Pratapas (left) looks at a pitch thrown by Inglemoor High School pitcher Henry Kresken (top center) during last night’s baseball game between the two teams at Mount Si High School in Snoqualmie. Pratapas walked in this second-inning at-bat, helping set up what turned out to be a five-run inning for Mount Si in a 10-0 win over Inglemoor. Catching for the Vikings is Dylan Clark (right center). A Will Gregory two-RBI triple keyed a five-run second inning for the Wildcats, who used that to spark a 10-0 run-rule result that ended after six innings last night at home in Snoqualmie. Colin Fraser went the distance on the hill for Mount Si, allowing only four hits walking two and striking out seven. Gregory finished 2-4 with that triple, a run scored and five RBI’s leading Mount Si, who won its fourth straight game. They head to Woodinville Monday to meet the Falcons. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Woodinville High School.

Wildcat JV’s fall: The Wildcat JV’s fell last night at Inglemoor 6-2. Cole Taylor and Austin Catini both had two hits each for Mount Si in this one at Inglemoor High School in Kenmore, with Catini getting a double, but a pair of three-run frames in the fourth and fifth by the Vikings doomed Mount Si. They host Woodinville Monday at 6:30 at Mount Si High School.

Heartbreak for Wildcat “C”: Mount Si was up 3-1 in the seventh on Hazen last night at Hazen High School in Renton, but saw the Kingco 3A team score twice in the seventh to force extra innings, then the Highlanders walked it off on a passed ball, stunning Mount Si’s “C” squad 4-3. Eli Terry had three hits pacing the Wildcats with a double and run scored, while Zach Zilmer added two hits to the efforts. Mount Si is home this afternoon with Eastside Catholic. Game time is high noon at Mount Si High School.

Bothell 6, Newport 0: The Cougars scored a fantastic road result over the contending Knights at Bob Albo Field on the Newport HS campus in Bellevue. The win kept Bothell tied for fifth overall in the conference at 6-6 in league with Mount Si, while dropping Newport a game behind first-place Eastlake at 9-3 in league play. Sawyer Wickstrom led Bothell going 3-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI’s.

North Creek 3, Skyline 2: Kai Miller walked it off last night at home in Snohomish County for the Jaguars with a single scoring Brock Fleming and moving North Creek into a tie for third in the conference at 8-4 overall in league play with the Spartans. He finished 3-4 with that game-winning RBI leading the Jaguars. Mason Pirello led Skyline with two hits including a double scoring a run.

Eastlake 6, Woodinville 2: A triple and three RBI’s from Jack Edmunds guided the Wolves to a win on the road over the Falcons in Woodinville that, with the Newport loss previously mentioned, moved them into top spot overall in Kingco play at 10-2 in league competition. Nate Woodside led Woodinville with two hits.

Issaquah 8, Redmond 2: The Eagles cruised past the winless Mustangs at Hartman Park in Redmond.

College score:

Baunsgard paces Tech: Senior Troy Baunsgard went 2-4 with a double, run scored and RBI pacing Tennessee Tech to a 4-0 win last night over Lindenwood in Ohio Valley Conference action (NCAA Division I) in St. Louis. Baunsgard, from North Bend and a 2020 Mount Si HS grad, is again having a solid season with the Golden Eagles, hitting .314 with three homers and 19 RBI’s. The series continues today.

Softball: Valley’s Knowles in action
Duvall freshman Maddie Knowles took part in action yesterday with her Iowa State University softball squad as they pocketed a 2-0 upset of highly-ranked Oklahoma State University at home in Ames, IA. Knowles, a 2023 Cedarcrest HS grad, started at catcher for the Cyclones and was 0-1 with two defensive putouts. The win was ISU’s 15th of the season against 21 losses. The weekend series continues today.

Knowles’ Cedarcrest classmate in action as well: Knowles’ fellow 2023 CHS alum Riley Warden, also from Duvall, and her Montana State University-Billings squad hosted Western Washington University for two yesterday at home in Billings, MT, allowing Warden to see some friends perhaps who play for the Vikings. But outside of the friendly hellos, it was not a good day at all for the Yellowjackets as they were swept by Western in the twinbill by the scores of 11-5 and 6-4.

Warden played in both games for MSUB. In the opener, she was 1-3 as the team’s designated hitter. The freshman also DH’d the nightcap and went 1-4 for the Yellowjackets, who are a woeful 8-29-1 on the season with only one win in GNAC (NCAA Division II) play. The teams finish their series with two today in Billings.

Speaking of Cedarcrest, the current high school Red Wolves were off yesterday, but several of their Wesco Conference counterparts competed. As a service to CHS fans so you can stay abreast of the league picture, we provide scores and highlights from GameChanger and their app for you.

Snohomish 11, Arlington 0: Pitcher Abby Edwards tossed a complete-game three-hitter as the Panthers rolled to a mercy-rule win over the Eagles at home in Snohomish. Edwards struck out 12. Cam Sage homered in this one for Snohomish.

Edmonds-Woodway 18, Marysville-Pilchuck 8: The Warriors took advantage of 16 Pilchuck walks to roll to the win over their Wesco rivals in Marysville.

Seattle Prep 7, Archbishop Murphy 0
Sedro-Woolley 11, Cascade 1
