>Weekend wrap

>Hello, everyone, a little late on this because of the Super Bowl yesterday but here we go. The main story of the weekend was on Friday night, as North Bend’s Rachel Mitchell of Northwest University scored 33 points on a solid 11-19 from the floor as the Eagles downed Corban from Portland 78-66. Northwest Coach Lori Napier was pleased. Her comments, according to the school website:”This was a great team win for us tonight,” commented Napier following the game. “We’ve played well the last few games but didn’t finish, so this was a nice win for the team. It was also great to see Rachel play so confidently.”

Nice effort for Rachel, and it was a shame that our girls didn’t have a chance to go see it, as they were scouting Friday, and that paid off as you know if you were there at the Wildcat game Saturday.

As for the rest of the weekend:

PLU men fall to Willamette 67-53
Kyle Clearman (PLU/North Bend) Four mins played, 0-1 from floor, 1 steal

Sat 1/31

PLU’s softball today wraps up their season opening trip to southern California with a pair of games in Costa Mesa against Vanguard. The games start at 1:30 and probably will go until about 6:00 or so this evening. We’ll be sure to let you know how they do.

Here’s what’s on tap this week here on the blog:

Coming up Wednesday and Thursday we will have previews for Mount Si’s gymnastics and wrestling teams as they head into postseason this weekend. With respect to gymnastics, you may want to come back in the afternoon Wednesday when we post that since you will be surprised with what we tell you.

Also there will be scores most every day this week here on the blog as basketball continues and softball gets going. Huge weekend this weekend on the diamond as Charleston Southern (Amy Trenkamp/North Bend), Idaho State (Kandis Clesson/North Bend) and Central Wash. (Kyleen Sweepe/North Bend (RS)) will be playing their openers. For Idaho State, this will be the first games for interim coach Andrea Wilson as she looks to help guide the program past the offseason distractions provided by the abrupt resignation of former coach Larry Stocking and the circumstances surrounding said resignation. So keep checking back every day and we should have new stuff up.
