Ladies first to start the new week, we have some softball to get things started!

Good Monday morning and happy Memorial Day to all of you. Late start this morning because we have a ton of stuff here. Softball leads it off, with action from Centralia and Wenatchee weekend tournaments featuring local players. All powered by GameChanger and their TeamManager app.

North Seattle Rage 16U 10, Dirt Dawgs 1: Cedarcrest High School’s Abby Combs didn’t have much time to reflect on the end of the Red Wolve softball season in that heartbreaking loss at the Washington 2A state tournament on Saturday, as she made a B-line west on US 12 from Selah over White Pass to Centralia to join her summer select team yesterday for a tournament there. And she pitched in right away for the Seattle team, working two innings and allowing only one hit and a walk each while striking out one in the circle as the Rage rolled. Combs at the plate was 0-1 with an RBI in the game for North Seattle.

Northwest Grapettes 14U 12, Diamond Dusters 0: At the NSA’s Sterling Invite in Wenatchee, the Bellevue-based team rolled to a win over their Puget Sound-area rivals. Mount Si’s Bella Scappini chipped in going 1-3 with two runs scored for the Grapettes; she also pitched an inning walking one but striking out a second. She did not give up a hit and was credited with no decision.

Snohomish Shock 12U 16, Timberwolves 0: For the second straight day in the tournament Shock pitchers no-hit the opposition as they blasted to the win. Tolt Middle School’s Olivia Lowell had a hit and scored two runs for the Shock.

Titans 6, SFC Spartans 14U 2: Despite the efforts of several Valley players, the Sammamish-based Spartans fell to the Puget Sound-area rivals. Mount Si’s Clara Connor and Sam Santo, along with Twin Falls Middle School’s Jenna Nowak and soon-to-be MSHS’er Mary Salmon all had hits in the game for the Spartans. Salmon and Connor split the pitching duty in this one, with Salmon allowing four runs, three earned over 2 2/3 innings on three hits, walking four and striking out five. She took the loss. Connor worked the other 1 1/3 innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits, walking three.

PNW Force 12, North Seattle Rage 16U 0: Combs is probably going to want to forget this game, which was the nightcap last night in Centralia for the Rage; she went the distance in the circle with all 12 runs she allowed being unearned courtesy of three Rage errors. Certainly very frustrating for sure for her. She allowed 10 hits, walked four and struck out one. At the plate the Red Wolve was 1-2.

Northwest Grapettes 14U 7, SFC Flare 1: Scappini had a hit and scored a run for the Grapettes as they handled the Seattle team last night in Wenatchee.

Snohomish Shock 12U 14, Giants Fastpitch 1: The Shock rolled in this Sterling contest over their Kirkland-area rivals. Lowell was 0-2.

Absolute Blast Pettit 16, SFC Spartans 14U 10: Chief Kanim Middle School’s Morgan Ruffin homered for the Spartans headlining a two-hit effort in which she scored three runs and drove in a fourth as the Spartans fell in a slugfest to the Woodinville team in their Wenatchee nightcap last night. Salmon was 2-3 with two runs scored while Nowak went 3-3 with a run scored and two RBI’s. Duvall’s Izzy Ojeda doubled as part of a two-hit effort, scoring a run and driving in a second, and some of the team’s Sammamish-based players also chipped in. Eastlake High School’s Gwen Peterson had a hit and run scored, Pine Lake Middle School’s Bri Fitchett doubled, and fellow Pine Laker Victoria Walker also doubled driving in two runs. Additionally, Snoqualmie Middle School’s MacCaden Gillespie, Chief Kanim’s Rainey Carbary, Inglewood Middle School’s Emily Beckerle and two young ladies from Beaver Lake Middle School, C.J. Jones and Hannah Jucht, are also on the team and played in the two games yesterday.

Snohomish Shock 12U 5, Washington Ladyhawks 3: The Shock continued on a tear last night, going into today’s playoffs at the Sterling event on a high note, with the win over the Puyallup team. Lowell went 1-2 in this one for the Shock.
