Baseball on the brain on a Tuesday, led by Mount Si….

Good Tuesday morning. We lead off our diamond cuts with a little baseball. Woodinville and Mount Si engaged in a little pitcher’s duel last night at Mount Si High School in Snoqualmie, with the Falcons coming out on top.

Hurler Tyler Jones pitched five quality innings for Woodinville in a big 2-1 road win over the Wildcats. Jones allowed a run on three hits, walking four and striking out 10 as the Falcons needed every ounce of energy from their senior ace to get things done last night. Ty Vandall doubled and scored a run for Woodinville in the game. Pitcher Andrew Hennessy came in to lock things down in the sixth and seventh for the Falcons earning the save. He allowed a hit and struck out four.

Taylor Davis led Mount Si with two hits and a run scored. Colin Fraser pitched well for the Wildcats, allowing two runs on six hits in five innings of work, walking four and striking out six.

The Wildcats are at Bothell tomorrow for a 5:00 p.m. first pitch at Bothell High School.

Swanson leads Mount Si JV’s: Tate Swanson carried the Wildcat junior varsity on his back last night, doing it with both the bat and his arm to help Mount Si blast the Falcons JV’s in Woodinville.

Swanson had two hits including a triple, scored two runs and drove in two more, and was one of two relievers to calm things down on the pitching front after starter Alex Ott struggled, aiding a 14-5 blowout of Woodinville. Ott as noted did not have a good outing, as he allowed five runs on only three hits in 1 1/3 innings. But Swanson and Jacob Hayes then came in to pitch in relief, and the two of them shut down the Woodinville bats over the final 5 2/3 innings, allowing only two hits and a walk striking out a combined three. Hayes got the win as Mount Si rebounded to get the job done, with the help of a six-run second inning.

Austin Catini had two hits including a double, scored a run and drove in a second for Mount Si, who hosts Bothell tomorrow at home in Snoqualmie. Game time is 6:30 p.m.

Bothell 3, Inglemoor 2 (13): Wyatt Mickelberry’s double in the 13th scored teammate Jude Roy sparking a two-run frame that helped the Blue Train end an extra-long round of the Spaghetti Bowl rivalry last night at Inglemoor High School in Kenmore. Pitcher Sawyer Wickstrom worked seven innings allowing a run on six hits striking out eight for Bothell while Mason McLaren got the win in relief, allowing a couple of walks and striking out two in two innings. Kobin Mullins had three hits including a double, scoring a run for the Vikings.

Skyline 10, Redmond 6: Mason Pirello powered the Spartans to a road win over the Mustangs in Redmond. The senior had two hits including a double, scoring three runs and driving in a fourth. Dylan Folkman also powered Sparty, with two hits including a double driving in two runs. Hiroshi Johnson aided Redmond with a double and RBI.

Eastlake 4, North Creek 1: A solo homer by Grady Woodward in the sixth broke a 1-1 tie and sparked a late three-run push by the Wolves that got them the road win up at North Creek High School in Snohomish County last night. Pitcher Cody O’Donnell allowed a run on two hits in five strong innings for Eastlake to get the win on the hill; he walked two and struck out three. Ben Weintraub worked the sixth and seventh frames in relief and allowed a hit striking out two for the save. Ryan Moran had two hits and a run scored pacing the Jaguars.

Newport 4, Issaquah 2: Dante Santulli’s fourth-inning solo shot lifted the Knights at home in Bellevue over the Eagles last night. Santulli and Jacob Freer both homered for Newport, and both factored into the pitching decision as well. Santulli worked four innings on the hill allowing two runs on five hits walking two and striking out two for the win, while Freer pitched a nearly clean seventh (he walked one) to get the save. Carter DuBreuil had two hits and a run pacing the Eagles, and pitcher Blake Peterson went the distance in a losing cause, allowing four runs, three earned, on four hits, walking two and striking out five.
