News on a Sunday…..

Good Sunday morning. We lead off with a little track and field for you this morning. Mount Si High School’s track and field team made the short drive down to Issaquah for the Issaquah Icebreaker Invitational yesterday. It was again a meet dominated by success from the girls’ squad, as they finished fourth overall in the meet.

Mount Si’s ladies pocketed three event wins. Beliya Tidd took the 100m sprint in a time of 12.53 seconds, and she was followed by Hailey Weir taking the 200m for the Wildcats in a time of 25.56. Of note, there was also a freshman division in the meet yesterday, and frosh Morgan Ruffin pocketed second in that division’s 100m race with a time of 13.53. Those three then teamed with Sophia Kono to bring home a win in the 4×100 relay for Mount Si with a time of 49.35 seconds. Also, the Cossey twins made their season debuts, with Hailey and Aleeya taking third and fourth respectively in the girls’ 1600m. Hailey clocked 5:07.75 followed by Aleeya with a time of 5:11.59.

Of note on the boys’ side, Sawyer Shelton took third in the 200m clocking 23.53 seconds, and he also landed a fifth in the 100m with a time of 11.55.

The Wildcats open their home schedule on Thursday with a meet against Skyline. It begins at 4:00 and runs until sundown at Mount Si High School in Snoqualmie, 8651 Meadowbrook Way SE. Park in the lot to the north of the freshman campus building and you will be able to access the track from that parking lot after a short walk.

Lacrosse
Whitworth women 16, Puget Sound 5: The Pirates cruised at home in Spokane yesterday over the visiting Loggers. Good stuff.

St. Vincent 11, Lebanon Valley men 10: The visitors from western Pennsylvania stunned the host Dutchmen scoring what turned out to be the game-winner with about 90 seconds left in regulation as Lebanon Valley fell in a heartbreaker last night at home in Annville, PA. Freshman Kellen Markley, he of Snoqualmie and a Mount Si HS alum, recorded two ground balls on defense for LVC in the game.

Stanford 18, Oregon women 8: The Cardinal cruised past the Ducks yesterday at home in Palo Alto, CA. Sophomore Anna Simmons, from North Bend and a 2022 Mount Si HS alum, had an assist in the game for Oregon.
